Yahoo.com has announced that as of December 15th, 2009, they will be shutting down their "World of Star Wars" beta site currently located at starwars.yahoo.com. The announcement, which was sent via email to all current members with profiles on the Yahoo Star Wars site, was also reflected by an announcement on the site itself. There users were redirected to this this help page for further info.

Even though the site never seemed to take hold with the masses of Star Wars fans on the web, the site certainly had a loyal following of vocal users.

Here's further details from the annoucement:

"The starwars.yahoo.com website will be closing down. The website will no longer be accessible as of December 15, 2009. As of that date, you will no longer be able to upload content, including photos, video and other items to the website, and content that was previously uploaded to the starwars.yahoo.com site will no longer be accessible and/or viewable.

Any profile content that was created specific to the starwars.yahoo.com site will no longer be available. Your standard Yahoo! profile information will not be impacted.

Customers who visit starwars.yahoo.com after December 15, 2009, will be re-directed to starwars.com, where you can continue to enjoy great Star Wars™ related content."

In the offical SW:TOR forums, Sean Dahlberg has revealed the Imperial Agent class of character for Bioware's upcoming MMO, "Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Here's a description from his post:

"The Imperial Agent is heavily inspired by several classic Star Wars characters such as Zam Wessel and Grand Moff Tarkin. Imperial Agents work behind the scenes to get the work of the Empire done. Specializing in high-tech gear, the Imperial Agent always has the right tools at the right time. They use abilities of subversion and subterfuge to infiltrate and assassinate enemies of the Sith Empire with deadly efficiency. Players who choose to be Imperial Agents in The Old Republic (TOR) will see the underbelly of the Empire in a whole new light."
