I've never really been a huge network TV talent show watcher (i.e. "American Idol"), but I couldn't help myself when I saw this performane by ArcAttack on NBC's "America's Got Talent". The “technological performance group” from Austin, Texas had one amazing audition, despite Sharon Osborne's indifference. I'm not sure what these guys can do for an encore though. Seems to me they migh be a bit of a one-trick pony. But we'll see. Hopefully they'll "shock" us in the next round (pun most certainly intended!) (Via Geeks of Doom) Comment Posted on Jun 9, 2010 by

The partnership between Lucasfilm and adidas certainly has been an interesting one. adidas brings a swagger all it's own to a galaxy far, far away. With cool StarWars adidas co-branded apparel dropping like rain in Seattle, how could it get better? Well, toss in a Fifa World Cup angle on the promotion and well... and things certainly just got cooler! What am I alking about? Well, check out the promotional video adidas just released as part of their 2010 Originals campaign, "The Street Where Originality Lives". The video features David Beckham, Franz Beckenbauer, Snoop Dogg, Noel Gallagher, Ian Brown, Ciara, Jay Baruchel, Daft Punk, DJ Neil Armstrong, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, Obi-Wan Kenobi and of course... Wuher! (Via StarWars.com) Comment Posted on Jun 8, 2010 by

Okay, I'll admit it... I've never been to Minnesota. Not sure what I would do if I went there. Well, that was up until the other day when I saw that some zany students at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota transformed the Goodsell Observatory there into RD-D2! Someone call the folks at the Guinness Book of World Records because I have to think this is the largest R2 to ever exist. Hopefully school officials got a chuckle and didn't take the whole thing too seriously. Heck, if they're smart... they'd have left it up. I bet applications would have doubled for the upcoming school year! (Via Gizmodo) Comment Posted on Jun 8, 2010 by

![]() If there's one thing Gentle Giant seems to nail every time, it's Star Wars beast statues. Their Wampa, Dewback and Rancor statues are all absolutely amazing pieces of work that can serve as the centerpiece of any great Star Wars statue collection. That's why when I heard they'd be releasing a Bantha statue, I knew I'd have to have it. Well, that very statue is now up for pre-order via Gentle Giant's website in both regular and Premier Guild (PG) exclusive releases. (You must be signed into your PG account for the exclusive link to work). The difference between the two releases is that the exclusive version comes with an extra Tusken Raider accessory add-on that the regular release does not have. But either way, this piece certainly gets our Swagalicious stamp of approval! Comment Posted on Jun 1, 2010 by

We recently did a very cool interview with Star Wars artist Denise Vasquez. In that interview, she mentioned she was taking part in the 501st Legion's TK Project for charity. The concept of the project is that talented Star Wars artists and celebs customize Stormtrooper helmets in unique and fun ways... with all profits from an eventual auction heading to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We couldn't get Denise to divulge any hints about her helmet, which was still in process due to an injury to her hand and wrist. Well, we saw that her helmet was finally revealed, and it's a beauty. Check it out.... it's a Na'vi from Avatar! Wowza! Can't wait to see this one in person. For more information about the TK Project, please visit the project's offical website. By this point, you've undoubtedly seen Family Guy's hilarious spoofs of both "Star Wars: A New Hope" and "The Empire Strikes Back" - titled "Blue Harvest" and "Something, Something, Something Dark Side" respectively. Well, it should come as no surprise to anyone that the crew from the hit Fox animated comedy is working on delivering their third Star Wars themed show, which will of course spoof "Return of the Jedi". Apparently the episode will be titled, "We Have a Bad Feeling About This". If you want to get an early laugh at some of the jokes you'll see, check out this table read from the show with Seth McFarlane front and center. It's amazing how talented these folks are... and it's awesome to see how they make each other laugh in the room. This was included as an extra feature on the "Something, Something, Something Darkside" DVD... Comment |
