Hoth Legos

Considering a huge blizzard is dumping feet of snow on the East Coast of the U.S. right now... our minds here at GalacticBinder naturally turn toward Hoth. That's when we discovered this amazing photo set from Avanaut on flickr.

The piece above is titled "Briefing on Hoth" and completely blows our hair back. You can almost feel those Lego mini-figs freezing their arses off! Somewhere, a Wampa is smiling.

We recently heard from @DarthLuis on Twitter, who was just bursting with excitement to share with us a Star Wars poem he wrote for a creative writing class. We hope he got an "A"! Star Wars poetry isn't something you find a lot of online, and the staff here all enjoyed it... so without further ado... here's "Tragedy of Tatooine".

I went to find one of my droids and Ben showed me the ways.

When we return home my family was dead.

(I must avenge my Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.)

Ben found Han to smuggle us through,

But our destination is no longer there

Our Falcon has been through much but we will not stop now.

We conned the troopers and found new duds,

The princess is waiting for her newfound friends

(I must avenge Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.)

We found her in a very small cell

Then leapt into the trash compactor to escape the blasters

I almost die but my trusty new droid fixes all

We run to the Falcon where we find old Ben

Vader and Obi-Wan cross sabers until Ben is struck down

(I must avenge Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.)

The Alliance is formed to save the galaxy,

I use the Force and the Death Star blows up;

I confront my father and all is well again.

(I must avenge Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.)

Millennium Falcon Bed

There are very few things that have left me speechless in this blog. Well, this is one of them. But since I have to communicate my sheer jaw-dropping excitement for this thing... I believe "nerdgasm" comes close to what I'm feeling.

This Millennium Falcon Bed was created by Kayla Kromer. Make sure to head to her Facebook page to check out the full photo gallery. The working lights just take this from amazing to the sublime!

Death Star Tattoo

On more than one occassion in this very blog, we've contended that Star Wars can be sexy. Yes, yes... we know that's it's an "all audiences" piece of entertainment and pop culture... however, that shouldn't (and doesn't) preclude it from being sexy.

While we keep our site rated PG-13ish... we've found more proof of just how very sexy a certain galaxy far, far away can be. Check out this hot Death Star tattoo found on hoshq's pages at DeviantArt. It's taken the web by storm for obvious reasons. Wowza!

We're assuming this battle station is indeed fully operational!

Star Wars Celebration V Poster

Talented artist Spencer Brinkerhoff III, who has worked on limited edition Star Wars prints for ACME Archives and Star Wars sketch cards for Topps, has put together this awesome promo poster for Star Wars CV in Orlando.

Star Wars Celebrations usually bring with them some awesome new artwork, from both Lucasfilm approved artists at the Celebration Art Show... as well as the fine art licensee, ACME Archives. Based on this whimsical piece alone, we have a strong feeling that CV will be no exception.

Star Wars Lego Mashup

To help promote their fantastic book, "LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary", DK Publishing has come up with a wickedly addictive widget on their website that allows fans to create their own Lego Star Wars mini-fig mashup!

So far, I've created at least two dozen... each one making me chuckle more than the last. Are you diggin' my pimped out Lando with four sabers? The scary part is that I could almost picture Lando wearing the orange pants! (All you X-Wing pilots out there better keep tabs on your flight suits!)

Donkey the Hutt

Like every other child of the 80's, I played Donkey Kong as a kid like it was going out of style. So when I came across this "Donky the Hutt" T-shirt design at Threadless.com, I knew I had to have it.

As of the date of this posting, there's still one more day to vote to get the shirt made. So head over there and cast your ballot!
