One of the most memorable sequences in 'Star Wars: A New Hope' is the Death Star briefing sequence where General Jan Dodonna unveils to the Rebels their plan to attack the galaxy's most terrifying battle station. While Han Solo rolls his eyes (ever the skeptic!), Luke Skywalker and the other pilots (along with us the audience) are shown a graphical video represenation of the Death Star and the now famous "Trench Run". All these years later, a video has surfaced in which animator Larry Cuba details just how he made those graphics come to life. Considering when these were produced, they were cutting edge indeed! Thanks to the folks at kottke.org for the link to the video. Comment Posted on Nov 10, 2009 by

![]() What did Carrie Fisher do on the set of "Return of the Jedi" when she wasn't busy strangling to death that disgusting piece of worm ridden filth known as Jabba the Hutt? She and her stunt double, Sandi Gross, apparently kicked back and caught some rays! Needless to say this picture is a true gem as the "golden bikini" has become one of the most iconic costumes worn in film history. This photo has caused a lot of hooplah on the 'net over the past few days... so make sure to check out Bonnie Burton's article at the Official Star Wars blog as to where it could originally be found! ![]() Nothing beats the proper eye-catching accessories when tossing on that tuxedo for a wedding, the prom or that big charity gala. Well, that includes showing your love for your favorite film franchise by popping in these Lego Shadow Trooper Cufflinks that were available recently from Etsy.com. The item recently sold out on the site... but it still gets our "Swagalicious" label because someone... somwhere is rocking these right now! Comment Posted on Oct 27, 2009 by

![]() Star Wars and and cool gadgets go together like peanut butter and jelly. The combo just makes sense. And since I can't think of a single gadget that involves a laser that I don't like... check out the new Star Wars lightsaber laser pointer that's available at ThinkGeek for $14.99. The item is in stock and is a perfect stocking stuffer for any Star Wars fan this holiday season. You can certainly use this to drive the family cat insane, or if you're a school teacher or business professional... what could be cooler than using this bad boy to point at your presentation! ![]() If you happen to bump into Marc Ecko on the street (hey, maybe you live in Manhattan), make sure to ask him if he's got the time. I'm pretty sure he will because the odds are he's sporting one of his new Star Wars watches! Just like his extensive line of Star Wars clothing (hoodies, tees etc), these watches are sure to drive fans and hipsters crazy! They appear to be heading your way around the holidays this year, and we'll keep you informed when we find out where they'll be on sale and for how much. Comment Posted on Oct 14, 2009 by

Okay... we really couldn't help ourselves. Had to share this new trailer for 'Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron', which is being released on November 3rd for the Nintendo DS. This game looks fantastic and promises to deliver the excellent gameplay fans have come to expect in the Battlefront series. Enjoy! Comment Posted on Oct 13, 2009 by

(Image compliments of starwars.com) According to a recent press release from Cartoon Network, the season two premiere of 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' delivered 2.581 million viewers! Based on those numbers alone, there's no doubt that The Force is as strong as ever. But what has impressed us here at GalacticBinder is that after watching the first few episodes of the new season, the show is just seemingly finding its groove - both technically and artistically. From a production standpoint, the show is clearly blossoming into a full scale epic on the small screen. Supervising Director Dave Filoni is on record claiming there's almost no comparison from what they can achieve now as to when the show first began. Of course this makes perfect sense. Obviously, season one was about the show finding its "legs" if you will. Creating a show of this complexity and scope (not to mention having to appease a rabid fanbase with technical wizardry) is a complicated process. Season two has already shown amazing progress by all involved; the show just leaps off the screen - bigger and better than ever. Also, Cad Bane and his band of bounty hunters has delivered the Star Wars galaxy a much needed infusion of some serious villain cred. We at GalacticBinder believe Star Wars audiences were beginning to grow a might bit weary of watching Dooku and Asajj constantly taking the point for the baddies. Not that they can't deliver some whiz-bang excitement, but the galaxy far, far away needed someone (or something) fresh and new. Cad Bane is that someone. A throwback to the spur-jangling blackhearts of classic Westerns, Bane is just a dynamite foe. Best of all, he does not rely on a lightsaber and The Force to achieve his means. Like Han Solo in the Original Trilogy, Bane has to get by on his cunning and instincts. He's a schemer, plotter and all-around deviant.... and we're eating him up with a spoon! Comment |
