Check out this amazing time lapse video of the magic-makers down at Legoland assembling this awesome Geonosis arena model that will be part of the new Star Wars Mini-land opening at the park on March 31st. The model took 5 weeks to build and is made of over 30,000 bricks.

And the good news is that we at GalacticBinder plan to be there for the opening of the Miniland and will bring you full event coverage of all the special happenings from Legoland that day. It should prove to be an amazing experience, and we'll have video and pictures galore!

Star Wars High School Musical

I recently read an article about a group of students at Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School in Florida who put on a musical version of Star Wars. Specifically sticking to the events in "Star Wars: A New Hope", the performance featured stormtroopers tap-dancing to "Puttin' on the Ritz", cantina aliens dancing to "Millennium Falcon" (set to the tune of "Greased Lightning") and the climactic musical number aptly titled "Use the Force" (set to the tune of "One Day More" from "Les Miserables").

Why am I possible writing about this? Quite simply because I never - ever - tire of marveling at how much Star Wars inspires people. It's truly amazing to try and get your head around all of the different ways people have come to express their connection to the saga. From animated spoofs, fan films, musicals, one-man shows, painting, model building, costuming, collecting, themed weddings, books, documentaries, snow sculptures, television references, websites, podcasts, pimped out vans, gallery exhibits, tattoos and on and on and on... our love of Star Wars knows no bounds.

So to all the kids at Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School... "May the Force Be With You!"

Edit: Here's some video!

Death Star Action Figure Set  Death Star Action Figure Set
(Images via Wired)

I'm already afraid of just how crazy things are going to get down at San Diego Comic-Con this summer when fans go wild for this exclusive set of Star Wars action figures. SDCC has become so huge, the lines for even uncool exclusives are often staggering... so I can't even begin to fathom the madness surrounding something as cool as what Hasbro has planned as their Star Wars exclusive this year.

The set will feature fourteen Star Wars action figures in Hasbro's "vintage" style on special "Revenge of the Jedi" cardbacks. Those cardbacks alone will make collectors flip out - as "Revenge" holds a special place in the heart of fans. But added to the awesome is the fact that while a dozen of the figures will be available via the mass market on regular cardbacks, two of the figures - Salacious Crumb and the Mouse Droid - will only be available via this set, which comes complete in eye-popping Death Star packaging!

The images above, taken at Toy Fair 2011 by the staff at Wired.com, show a mock-up (using stand-in figures as samples) of what the set will look like. Epic!!!!!

In a continuing wave of people coming up with clever new ways to depict Star Wars, digital designer Wayne Dorrington has created this "Star Wars Iconoscope", which tells the entire plot of "Star Wars: A New Hope" using only basic icons. It's like a modern day cave painting if you will.

But it's pretty darn clever if you ask me. I'm not sure if someone who has never seen the film (ya know... the one human who hasn't been exposed yet) could make sense of this... but for the billions of the rest of us... this makes perfect sense!!!!

Quite simply, we just can't get enough of the brick around here... so we're anxiously waiting for the release of "Lego Star Wars 3: The Clones Wars" on March 22, 2011. Considering how awesome this series of games has been, it's a no-brainer slam dunk that we'll be spending many hours with family and friends rockin' out on the Wii as we make our way through this bad boy.

If you haven't pre-ordered your copy yet, head over to Amazon.com and do the deed!

As if we aren't anxious enough already... check out this awesome new trailer.
