Star Wars Celebration VII

Spoonful of Star Wars Art Exhibit

On November 20th, 2010, a very special art exhibit titled "A Spoonful of Star Wars" premiered at DesignerCon 2010 at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasasdena, California. The exhibit featured over 100 original paintings by artist Bwana Spoons - each one depicting a vintage Star Wars Kenner action figure. The exhibit was co-curated by Sarah Jo Marks and Dov Kelemer of DKE Toys, who many fans might recognize from their famous Vader Helmet project.

Whimsical and fun, Spoons delivers piece after piece with humor and vivid colors - spinning, twisting and lampooning the nostalgia every Star Wars fan feels when thinking about the toys of our youth. At the event Spoons told GalacticBinder, "I see each one as a fun little still life. Every time I made an oversized piece, like the Rancor, Dov would tell me, 'Keep them small... but this big one is great!'" Spoons also told GalacticBinder that he wasn't sure about the future of the collection but that organizing and creating a book from the exhibit has been discussed and may be in the cards.
