The Vader Project Los Angeles Exhibit On Saturday June 12, 2010, The Vader Project held a catalog signing featuring over 25 of the artists who participated in the landmark Star Wars art project. The signing was part of a ten day pop-up gallery exhibit in Los Angeles on Melrose Avenue, which was the last stop for the 100 unique helmets before their auction at Freeman’s Auction House in Philadephia, Pensylvania in July of 2010.Curated by Dov Kelemer and Sarah Jo Marks of DKE Toys, The Vader Project featured 100 prop replica Darth Vader helmets customized by some of the most notable underground artists and designers in the country. The exhibit premiered at Star Wars Celebration IV in Los Angeles back in 2007 (with only 66 helmets at the time) and then traveled the globe for years, before finally coming to a conclusion back in Los Angeles. As this final stop in L.A. was an auction preview, DKE Toys printed a 200-plus page, full-color, limited edition catalog. All of the artists in attendance spent time meeting the fans and signing the catalog – creating an amazing keepsake of the event.
